I was back up around Manhattan this past weekend on the way to Kansas City for a quick family vacation.  Woke up early on Friday for a hopeful sunrise shoot over Tuttle Creek Lake that unfortunately didn’t pan out.  Headed over to the other side of the dam to the spillway.  The water was rushing out pretty harsh that day and was spraying quite a bit of mist up into the air.  Made for some tricky shooting.  Had to clean the lens quite a few times.  Fortunately the camera never took a direct hit from the waves.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!

  3. Wow man that’s crazy. I know it’s hard to tell from the photo, but those waves up the side look rather on the large side!

    • Exactly right. The concrete sides are probably 50-60 feet high and there was times where the water was a good 30-40 feet above those. It’s honestly a pretty powerful force, makes you nervous standing close to it.
